Exhaust air purification in industrial processes where hydrocarbon or odour-laden exhaust air is released is nowadays a must. The permissible emission limit values are laid down in national laws, e.g. German Clean Air Act (TA-Luft) or Solvent Ordinance (31. BImSchV, as well as in international laws and guidelines, e.g. the European VOC guideline.

Surface Technology

Surface technology is also primarily concerned with the cleaning of polluted exhaust air, because each painting and coating process produces substances that pollute the air. Here, the pollutant mixture usually consists of a large number of different hydrocarbons. A wide range of applications, robust operation and maximum energy efficiency characterise our exhaust air purification systems in this area.

Whether regenerative thermal oxidation or solvent recovery – we build the right system for every application. Our exhaust air purification systems, such as the OXIDATOR or our activated carbon systems, for surface technology are safe, robust and low-maintenance.

Paint- and Varnish Production

Exhaust air purification also play a special role in the production of paints and varnishes where a wide variety of hydrocarbons and chemicals are used. Printing Industry

In the printing industry, our main focus is on exhaust air purification, because here exhaust gases with the pollutants alkanes, acetates, aromatics, ketones and alcohols occur. Rapid changes in concentration and air volume as well as concentration peaks pose particular challenges.

The integration of additional waste heat utilisation into the production process makes our plants particularly economical.

Wood Indsutry

The wood industry also produces exhaust air containing pollutants, which has to be cleaned. In the production of decorative foils and chipboards, the polluted exhaust gases are usually very moist and warm, but the concentration of pollutants is relatively low. Highly efficient exhaust gas purification with thermal efficiency up to 97% and downstream heat recovery for process heat generation go hand in hand here.

Plastics Industry

Many different hydrocarbons and chemicals are used in the production of plastics. Dusts and aerosols must also be removed from the process gas.

The requirements to be met by exhaust gas purification are various. Our plants, such as the OXIDATOR, the THERMOREACTOR or the DUOCONDEX plants, are individually conceived and designed for the respective application.

Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals

In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, the main focus is on the purification of exhaust air, usually by regenerative thermal oxidation.

A large number of chemicals with different properties occur: Corrosive, explosive, flammable, water soluble, not water soluble, toxic and carcinogenic.

Recycling

Exhaust air purification plants of ROTAMILL can also be found in the recycling industry. The adsorption of pollutants on activated carbon ensures efficient and economical operation.

When recycling old refrigerators, the released ozone-damaging CFCs are removed from the process gas with the help of our DUCONDEX plants using liquid nitrogen. These plants are distributed in cooperation with the Messer Group.

Medical Technology

In medical technology, the main focus is the recovery of solvents. The recovery of the solvent dichloromethane, which is used in medical technology, is of primary importance for the purification of exhaust air with activated carbon. Even corrosive process media can be treated in the best possible way with the use of special stainless steel.

Rubber and Tyre Production

In these industries, efficient and at the same time economical exhaust air purification is at the forefront - this is usually achieved with adsorption plants.

In the rubber industry alkanes (hexane, heptane) or aromatics (toluene) are very often used for medium concentrations.

During vulcanization and polymerization in therubber industry, exhaust gases are produced which are contaminated with hydrocarbons and with sticky aerosols. With ROTAMILL’s special plant technology, even these difficult exhaust gases can be cleaned efficiently.

In the tyre industry it is often necessary to clean exhaust gases with the pollutants alkanes (hexane, heptane), aromatics (toluene) or alcohols with traces of silanes. Rapid changes in concentration and air volume as well as concentration peaks pose particular challenges. The safe design of our plants, especially with regard to explosion protection, is highly appreciated by experts.
